for Germany and
Austria:
From 09.10.2025 an important update related to the Verification of Payee (VoP) requirements will be implemented in the European Union.
Until Thursday, there may still be isolated error messages. Please note that you can still make the transfer successfully.
What is VoP?
VoP is a new regulation aimed at preventing fraud and misdirected payments. Banks will now verify whether the entered beneficiary name matches the official account holder.
How does it work?
When initiating a bank transfer, you will have to enter:
- Recipient’s Name – Who you are sending the payment to.
- Bank Account Details – IBAN or account number.
The VoP system cross-checks this information with the recipient’s bank. The result can be:
✅ Match – Name matches the account; payment proceeds.
⚠️ Close Match – Minor discrepancy (e.g., typos); payer is advised to double-check.
❌ No Match – Name and account don’t align; payer is informed but may still proceed.
Alias:
Commerzbank supports an alias feature, allowing customers to use familiar names for Riverty, in order to reduce risk.
